             Teach Us To Pray

April 2015

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly,” Matthew 6:6.

The word CLOSET means an inner chamber, a quiet place. The phrase SHUT THE DOOR means to shut all the earthly things out of your mind. This means to turn off the computer, t.v., radio, cell phone, and anything else that will distract your mind from the Lord. Find that quiet place in Him.

Does this mean we lock ourselves in a small, sound proof room? Maybe, but it can be anywhere where you are alone and quiet with the Lord. This could be in a car, on a bike, taking a walk, or just where your mind is on Him.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name,” Matthew 6:9.

The word MANNER means procedure, fashion, custom, method,

and characteristic. The Lord doesn't mean to memorize these words and say this every time you pray. We are to remember these ideas. These are the STEPS for coming into His Presence.

The first thing here is Our Father which art in Heaven. FATHER is ALEPH, the beginning, head, and the creator of all things. HEAVEN is the Spiritual realm. Our Father is high above all. We need to acknowledge Him as Lord over the earthly realm.

Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven,” Matthew 6:10.

We need to be asking for His Kingdom to come. It should be our whole desire to ask the Father for His kingship, His power, His dominion, and His rule, to come into our way of life. We need to make Him King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The Kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever,” Revelation 11:15.

The Kingdoms of our Lord are to become a way of life in His Christ, His people, the Body of Christ.

As we continue to look at Matthew 6, verse 10 says, “Thy will be done IN earth”. Many say, “Thy will be done ON earth”. We are His earth and He wants His will IN His people, in the Spiritual realm.

O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord, Jeremiah 22:29.

The word of the Lord is, THY will be done in your people.

The next manner or step is “Give us this day our daily bread,” Matthew 6:11.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst”, John 6:35. “I am the living bread which came down from Heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world,” John 6:51.

Jesus is that “bread of life”. If any man eat of this bread he shall live forever. Jesus is our daily bread. He wants us to eat His bread, which is the Word of God, daily.

Continuing on in Matthew 6, verse eleven says “GIVE US”. We must desire His Words of Life. We must ask for our daily bread every day.

The next step we must do is

. . . Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors,” Matthew 6:12.

The word FORGIVENESS means to forgive, forget, and to go on. Not only do we need to forgive others, but we also need to forgive ourselves.

And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died saying, So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face: and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them,” Genesis 50:15-21.

This is the first time the word “FORGIVE” appears in the Bible. Joseph's brothers had done much evil to him. His brothers asked Joseph for forgiveness for the evil they had done unto him. Joseph had a forgiving heart. He had already forgiven his brothers a long, long time ago. Forgiveness needs to be automatic. We need to pray that God gives us a heart to ASK for forgiveness and a heart to forgive our debtors.

Great peace have they which love The law: and nothing shall offend them,” Psalm 119:165.

We should be loving His Word, loving His commandments, loving His voice, and loving His will in our being. We will have that peace that passeth all understanding when our mind is stayed upon Him. Nothing nor anybody will offend us.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted His raiment, and cast lots,” Luke 23:34.

Forgiveness was in the Lord's heart. We see that Stephen had this same heart of forgiveness.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep,” Acts 7:59-60.

Stephen didn't want any bitterness in his heart toward what the people had done to him. Paul also wanted a clean heart toward his brethren.

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion,” 2 Timothy 2:16-17

Everybody forsook Paul because they didn't want to be persecuted with Paul. When things were good they surrounded him and listened to his preaching, but when things got tough, they forsook him. This was the same thing that had happened to Jesus, Stephen, and all those that have suffered for the Words' sake. There are times when only the Lord is standing with you. Our heart needs to be like Paul, “I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.”

Back in Matthew 6:12 it says that we are to forgive our debtors. This concept needs to be automatic in our heart. Ask the Lord to give you a heart of forgiveness.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen,” Matthew 6:13

We need to ask the Lord for direction in our walk so that we will not be lead into temptation.

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye it it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left,” Isaiah 30:21.

This is the way, walk ye in it. Our ears need to be open to hear His still small voice. Jesus is saying, “Pray that your ears be open, this is the way, walk ye in it”.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater that all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand,” John 10:27-29.

His sheep know His voice and they will follow His leading. The Lord will deliver us from evil if we will follow His voice.

The last part of Matthew 6:13 says “For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. This last concept is a repeating of what He said at the beginning of His prayer. Back in verse 10 of Matthew 6, Jesus says, “Thy Kingdom come.” His Kingdom needs to come within us.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you,” Luke 17:21.

Not only do we want His power, His dominion, His rule, His kingship, but also His Kingdom also, forever.

Our prayer should be “Lord, teach us to pray for these concepts, so that we may enter into Your Kingdom.” Amen!

Keith Huff,

Come Out

of Her My People!

Are you hungering and thirsting for the unadulterated, life-giving Word of God? Do you feel like you are starving in the midst of your church? Have you had to leave the lukewarmness of your church? Have you been called out of your church to get alone with the Lord and hear directly from Him? Beloved, you are not alone. We are hearing from believers all over the world, how they can no longer sit in the church and never receive food for their souls.

God tells us in Ezekiel that He is in the process of delivering His flock from the mouth of false shepherds. No longer are those who are desiring God with their whole heart going to be meat for these pastors.

God is in the process of bringing His flock who desire to follow Him with their whole heart out of the apostate church systems of our day, and He is feeding them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel.

Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey. I will cause the shower to come down in his season; and there shall be showers of blessing. And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. Thus shall they know that I the LORD their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord GOD, Ezekiel 34.

Yes, God is in the process of breaking the bands of the yoke that has been placed upon His flock. Praise the Lord.

You are not alone. We encourage you to get before the Lord in a quiet place and stay there until He rains His showers of blessing upon your dry ground. He has given you this promise.

Begin this process He has planned for you today.
